Added in the gallery some old magazine scans that were missing!
Georgie Henley had always been interested in craft of acting, but didn’t imagine it could have taken her as far as it has. “A casting director for the Narnia franchise came up to Yorkshire and filmed me talking about what I had for breakfast,” she recalls. “Eighteen months later, I had my first role as Lucy Pevensie.” Starting out so young, it was a great help to look to those around her for inspiration. “I’ve learnt everything I know just from working with other talented individuals,” she offers, “and being on the same set as people like Tilda Swinton and James McAvoy was a immeasurably valuable experience for me as a young actor.” Despite her early start, one of Shakespeare’s greatest female roles have always appealed. “In terms of dream characters to take on, Shakespeare’s Cleopatra would be a formidable role to play; her line ‘Now from head to foot / I am marble-constant’ is a heartrending portrayal of grief.” And more contemporary inspiration? “Marion Cotillard and Jessica Chastain have been a huge inspiration to me, they are chameleons but always have an innate sense of elegance and grace.”
Many thanks to Georgie Henley Life for the scans and article!
A new beautiful behind the scene image from Sisterhood of the Night has been released and added to the gallery. The official site has also been launched so be sure to visit it: The Sisterhood of the Night (Movie)
(Old article that I’d already posted but got lost when the site had problems some months ago!)
SINCE she was an eight-year-old cast in the role of Lucy in the Narnia films Georgie Henley has had to balance the demands of her career as an actress with her school work.
But her A-level results show she has made it work as ten years on she is celebrating earning a place at Cambridge University after achieving top grades at Bradford Grammar School.
The teenager from Ilkley earned an A* in history and two As in English literature and Latin.
She is now going to read English at Cambridge.
She said: “It was amazing to get these results. I just really wanted to do my best and you do feel a lot of pressure with an A* in the offer.”
Talking about the balances of pursuing her career while studying for exams she said: “It has been very difficult at times, particularly when you get to A-levels because you have to be self-motivated but I really love education. It has been great being at Bradford Grammar School and all my teachers have really supported me. I am really excited about going to university but I still want to keep on acting.”
She was first cast as Lucy in the Chronicles of Narnia Films when she was an eight-year-old and has had to balance gruelling filming schedules throughout her school life.
As well as appearing in the the movie adaptations of the CS Lewis fantasy series she has also starred in a BBC TV adaptation of Jane Eyre.
Two years ago she celebrated achieved eight A*s and two As at GCSE.
She also had film commitments during her A-levels.
In 2011 she got the role as Beth in the Perfect Sisters film and she has also been cast as lead character Mary Warren in the upcoming Sisterhood of the Night film based on the Salem Witch trials.
She added; “My first acting job was the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe so it was a real jump in at the deep end from doing nativity plays and pantomimes. I know I have been given some incredible opportunities.”
Bradford Grammar School’s headmaster Kevin Riley said: “I am delighted to hear that Georgie has done so well in her exams. She has worked so hard with her studies in and amongst filming her latest film role. She is a credit to the school and shows what can be achieved if you are willing to work hard enough.”
Several pics of the day have been added to the gallery, and you can also watch a video below. Always thanks to Georgie Central for their amazing help!
After 2 years Georgie finally attended a new event! Sadly we have only 1 pic of her but better than nothing right?
To celebrate the latest issue of Acne Paper, a launch party was held at Mr. Chow in London on Thursday October 17th 2013.
Georgie Henley has just celebrated her 18th birthday – and is gearing up for the launch of her new movie.
Georgie shot to fame in the big-screen adaptations of CS Lewis’ classic children’s books about the magical world of Narnia – first playing Lucy Pevensie in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe when she was just nine-years-old.
Two more Narnia stories followed – Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader – but Georgie, who was born in Ilkley and lived here with mum Helen, dad Mike and her two sisters, is now bringing darker fare to the screen.
Filming work has completed on The Sisterhood of Night and Georgie’s legion of fans is awaiting a release date for the picture, which is described as a modern re-telling of the Salem witch trials of the 17th Century.
